A Memorable Day Marking the Start of the Legal Year
On 1st October 2025, Parvien Akhtar was invited as a special guest of the Law Society to the Opening of the Legal Year ceremony at Westminster Abbey, London – an occasion of solemnity, reflection, and renewed commitment to justice.
The day began at Lincoln’s Inn, where Parvien joined fellow legal professionals for a welcome breakfast and a powerful address by Richard Atkinson, President of the Law Society. His words set the tone for the day: one of unity, integrity, and duty.
At Westminster Abbey, a poignant service was led by the Very Reverend David Hoyle, reminding attendees of their collective calling and the enduring responsibility to serve justice with humility, wisdom, and courage.
The event was attended by senior figures in law and government, including:
- David Lammy, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice
- Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales
Guests were then invited to the Houses of Parliament for a reception hosted by the Lord Chancellor.
